Painswick Gardens

Famed for having one of the largest naturalistic plantings of snowdrops in the country, the hidden valley which forms the Rococo Garden is unforgettably carpeted with white for a few weeks at the start of spring.  Followed by time in Stroud.

Designed in the 1740s as a fanciful pleasure garden for the owner of Painswick House and his guests, today it’s a place to roam free, to get up close and personal with nature, or to feel the warmth of the sun on your face as you take in the spectacular views of the Cotswold countryside and magical follies.

Requests for particular seats on the coach can be made when booking and we will do our best to accommodate these requests, but allocations are made on a first come first served basis, dependent upon customer mobility. We reserve the right to change your seat and allocate you a different one for operational reasons.

On single bookings, we reserve the right to alter your seating to maximize the seating available. We accept no liability in the event of any such change.

Getting around

The garden itself was built in a hidden valley almost 300 years ago. Paths are both steep and uneven and we do not recommend using a wheelchair or mobility scooter in the garden due to its difficult terrain.

The steepest slopes all have handrails, and there are 45 benches dotted around the garden for when you need to rest. The garden isn’t suitable for motorised scooters.
