Beth Chatto OBE was an award-winning plantswoman, author and lecturer. Her work at the gardens began in 1960 when she took an overgrown wasteland of brambles, parched gravel and boggy ditches, transforming it using plants adapted by nature to thrive in different conditions. An inspirational, informal garden has since developed.
Chatto's tearoom serves locally produced freshly baked pastries, cakes, scones, sausage rolls and delicious sandwiches, together with fresh coffee, herbal teas, hot and cold drinks.
Please note: cash is not accepted.
