Mompesson House is an elegant 18th-century townhouse located in the heart of Salisburys Cathedral Close.
It is known for its peaceful walled garden, featuring traditional herbaceous borders and a pergola.
The house became home to Mrs Ann Portman and her three unmarried daughters, Ann Mary, Henrietta, and Wyndham,
when they moved to Salisbury in 1798 after becoming widowed and leaving their family home.
Mrs Portman died in 1814, but two of her daughters continued living there until their own deaths.
Henrietta was the only daughter to marry and later sold the house in 1846.
Today, the house is presented as it would have been during the Portman familys time, offering an insight into Regency life.
Highlights include:A Regency-style parlour on the ground floor and childrens playroom upstairs with Regency-era games and toys
