Opened in 1916, Stow Maries was home to B Flight of No. 37 (Home Defence) Squadron of the Royal Flying Corps,
playing a vital role in defending Britain during the first Zeppelin and Gotha bomber raids.
On 1 April 1918, history was made here when No. 37 Squadron became part of the newly formed Royal Air Force
marking Stow Maries as an important birthplace of the RAF story.
Today, visitors can experience the atmosphere of this extraordinary aerodrome,
uncover the stories of the people who served here, and enjoy a unique journey through Britains aviation heritage.
