For nearly three centuries Walmer Castle has been the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports,
an office granted to some of Britain’s most famous people, including the Duke of Wellington and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
Displays highlight the Duke of Wellington, Lord Warden for 23 years until his death here in 1852.
You’ll see the armchair in which he died and a pair of his ‘Wellington boots’.
