Explore the gardens at Wakehurst that stretch across 500 acres. Experience sights, smells, and sounds from botanic landscapes across the planet, from native meadows, temperate woodlands and stunning wetlands.

 

Wakehurst is home to one the UK’s largest outdoor art installations, Planet Wakehurst, by artist Catherine Nelson. The wrap is covering the Elizabethan mansion whilst essential roof works take place, Planet Wakehurst is a celebration of our wild botanic garden with a built-in viewing platform 33ft high offering visitors an outlook across Wakehurst and beyond.

 

The Millennium Seed Bank is a treasure trove of scientific excellence. Hiding an underground collection of over 2.4 billion seeds from around the world, banking them to conserve them for the future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Requests for particular seats on the coach can be made when booking and we will do our best to accommodate these requests, but allocations are made on a first come first served basis, dependent upon customer mobility. We reserve the right to change your seat and allocate you a different one for operational reasons. On single bookings, we reserve the right to alter your seating to maximize the seating available. We accept no liability in the event of any such change.

Accessibility

 

• There are many gravel and hard surface paths around the gardens.

• A large area of the ornamental planting, lawns and water features around the Mansion is level and accessible via a hard surface path from the Visitor Centre.

• There is level or ramped access to the Visitor Centre.

• The remaining garden and woodland areas have steep slopes and steps.

• The Wakehurst Visitor Map, available at the Visitor Centre, shows the different types of path around the site.

• There are a limited number of standard and all-terrain wheelchairs available to borrow. There is no need to book wheelchairs in advance; please ask when you arrive.

• Mobility scooters are available to borrow from the Visitor Centre. Due to limited availability, please call our Customer Care Team to book a mobility scooter in advance on 01444 894067 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Sunday.

Timetable

• Our timetables are unique, bookings are taken throughout the year, and we release the pickup times around a month before departure. This allows us to ensure our pickup routes are kept to a minimum and our days run to time.

• Arrival and departure times in our brochure and on our website are a guideline and will be confirmed on your final confirmation.

• On some trips we run Fast Track pickups, typically on coastal trips or those of some distance. This shortens the pickup times and gets you to the destination in good time.

• Terms and Conditions can be found on our website or copies supplied upon request.
